Dear ISHR Member:

The International Society for Heart Research invites you to nominate candidates to be considered for appointment as Fellows of the ISHR (FISHR).

As you know, in 1999, the ISHR Council established a Fellowship status as a means of recognizing those members who have distinguished themselves for outstanding contributions to cardiovascular research. A total of 82 Founding Fellows were introduced at the 17th World Congress of the ISHR in Winnipeg in July 2001, while 16 additional Fellows were chosen in 2004, 10 in 2007, 21 in 2010, 17 in 2013, and 15 in 2016 (a list of Fellows is available on the ISHR website, www.ishrworld.org).

ISHR Guidelines stipulate that new Fellows are to be appointed every 3 years, at the time of each World Congress. I am now writing to ask that you nominate candidates to be considered for appointment as Fellows of the ISHR at the 2019 World Congress in Beijing. The main criterion in assigning Fellowship status is the performance of independent research that has made a major contribution to advancing our understanding of cardiovascular biology and medicine.

From the final list of nominees, Fellows will be chosen by a Credentials Committee chaired by David Eisner.A copy of the detailed guidelines for nomination and selection of Fellows is available on the ISHR website for your information.

Please submit the name(s) and institute(s) of your nominee(s) along with a one-page

nomination letter to Dr. Leslie Anderson Lobaugh, the ISHR Executive Secretary, by e-mail (llobaugh@ishrworld.org) no later than July 1, 2018. Nominations letter should include a list (and links) for the nominees 10 most important papers and a short (less than 500 words) statement or list of the major scientific accomplishments. A curriculum vitae should also be included. Nominations received after that date cannot be considered.

[If you do not receive an acknowledgement of receipt, please re-send].

Thank you in advance for your input.

With best wishes,

Elizabeth Murphy, PhD

President, ISHR-Int
